christmas eve

we went to church on christmas eve for the first time..ever? as a family!

we get together with pat's whole extended family on christmas eve and so we've made the decision year after year to not go to church so that we can be with his family.

this year, we just felt like it was important to be at church. and we were SO blessed by our decision! it was a WONDERFUL service.

and we were just a few minutes late, and they were maybe glad our family arrived a bit later :-) the volume and excitement level shoots up a few notches!

 we had a great time!
it was the first time lincoln and levi were meeting pat's aunts, uncles and cousins. AND colin's (pat's sister's husband's) parents were there - we loved getting to see them again! (hi, mr and mrs harris!! :-))

yummy food, family, and fun!
the kids read the christmas story...
i wish i had taken a lot more pictures...boo...

We never had Christmas Eve service as a tradition in my family. But we started it when we started being at home on Christmas (maybe when Clay was 2?) But now I love it as a part of Christmas. Keeps me centered on the true meaning before the craziness of the next morning sets in.
