for what it is

yes, that's my favorite lunch that i'm making. going on 4 weeks now...LOVE it!

it's been a good week.
and i'm choosing to enjoy that for what it is.
i'm not going to go and make any big statements like, "maybe we've reached a certain point..." "maybe we are adjusting..." because if i've learned ANYthing these last 3 months, it's NEVER to say any of those things. it will just set you up for a big fall.

i'm not sure i'll EVER be adjusted to having 6 kids :-)

but it was a good week.

i ENJOYED lincoln. i mean, REALLY enjoyed him. we laughed and were silly.
there have been times in all my kids lives when it's been hard to enjoy them. because they were going through "phases" {you know, tantrums, potty training, not sleeping, etc.} i never liked it. but i had enjoyed them prior to it and knew i'd enjoy them again. it was just a phase.

but to start off a relationship with one and go straight into ALL of that at once was hard. it hurt my heart. and, i'll admit to sometimes choosing to expect the worst instead of the best - just because it had happened that way dozens of times before so i expected it to. it was wrong. i guarded my heart at times - because it felt too hard and it was too exhausting. i've seen and felt how UGLY my heart can be. but i kept giving it all to Him. i begged and pleaded for Him to change me. not for Him to change lincoln. to change ME. and He is. and He is doing it so gently and graciously {which i DON'T deserve!} i am in awe.

ANYways. i didn't mean to get into all of that. it's just been a good week.

guess what? i totally beat a guy swimming this morning! and he wasn't 60 years old!
he was like, in shape and all. and i BEAT him!
but i'm not sure he knew we were racing...
{and i outswam him, too!}

but all that racing did me in.
after swimming 1 1/2 miles, we went straight to walmart/sams to buy groceries for the next week.
as soon as i stepped foot in the door of walmart, the stars started...the beginning of a migraine.
ugh.

multi-tasking at it's best. i shopped quickly (not sure if i even got what i needed because i could hardly see for the stars in my eyes), bought a little bag of trail mix at the checkout line - split it between the 4 of us (the protein in the peanuts were going to help my headache). snagged a swig of water from the water fountain on the way out. went to sams (next door) and shopped. and got a diet coke. by the time i got home, the stars were gone. the headache is still lingering, but i kept it from sending me to the couch for the rest of the day! whoo-hoo!

and it's a good thing! because i'm headed out of town for the weekend with 2 girlfriends!!!
i'm a little torn - i LOVE the weekends at home - reconnecting with pat and regrouping.
but it will be fun and good for me to get away for a little while, too.
pat REALLY encouraged me to go...he's the best.
i really need to do a better job taking pictures of the older 3 kids! they ARE alive and doing well!

I love catching up on you. And I LOVE that salad...I leave out the cucumber, but I've been eating it ever since I saw it on your blog and I'm making it tomorrow for a guest. Thx!
