bailey is 6

bailey was born 19 months after joshua. the closest span between any of our kids (well, now lincoln and sawyer are closer in age...but...)

besides the adjustment from 0-1 children (which i think is the hardest), this adjustment from 2-3 kids was the hardest for me. (the jury is still out on that compared to going from 4-6 kids :-))

i remember being in the hospital after having her and looking at her and thinking, "what have we done?" we had the "perfect" 1 girl/1 boy family...i did not bond with her easily at first. not as easily as i did with rebekah and joshua and sawyer.

does God have a sense of humor or what?

the JOY she brings to ALL around her is the BEST gift He could have given me. our family would not be the same without her.

last night pat had everyone say the thing they love the most about bailey. all the answers were precious. but joshua's i loved the most, "i love how she is always happy." he nailed it.

oh, and bailey SOAKED up all those loving words from her family. her smile just grew and grew and grew...

we were all home yesterday and had so much fun CELEBRATING bailey! we just all kept saying, "happy birthday, bailey!" all day long. she LOVED it!

pat went out and got her flowers in the afternoon (she had mentioned that to me a few weeks ago...)

precious.

reading her postcard from hannah :-)

the first gift she opened was from rebekah - a cd she made her and lipgloss...

it's really so easy to please this little girl! it makes it so FUN!
rainbow sherbet with a candle before bed.

and the 3 little boys and i just got back a few minutes ago from eating lunch with her.

she was full of stories for me. and then asked me to leave so she could go back and sit with her friends (the classes are so full, that you sit at a separate table to eat lunch with them). i left. and she was all smiles.

happy birthday, my sweet bailey!

i love her!! Happy Birthday sweet and JOYFUL Bailey!!! What a smile you must bring to the Father all the time!!! I remember how she practically came out wearing tutus and stripes and polka dots together! And LOVING to read - I would come over and all the other kids (our other 3) would be running around - not Bailey. She was happy just to sit right with me and read book after book after book!

how funny that she asked you to leave ;-)
Samantha would have done the same thing.
There are parts of them that I still see as being so similar (like, Samantha is much 'quieter' but their 'outlook' is very much alike!)

Hi, Courtney. I stumbled across your blog via a friend and have enjoyed reading it thorugh your journey. I read something tonight on Facebook and I am sharing it with my friends who have adopted. You don't know me but I had a feeling that you might appreciate this post. Please check it out if you can. It is just a touching and uplifting message about adoption "after the airport" excitement. http://jenhatmaker.com/blog/2011/09/06/after-the-airport

warm regards,
