i made a decision yesterday.
i am no longer going to be consumed with sadness about leaving sawyer.
yes, it's sad. and i AM sad.
but...it is the best decision for all of us. the decision is made. he will be in GREAT hands. and me focusing on it so much is just WORRY. and it is taking my focus off of where it should be.
so, no more WORRY. i am sad. but, i am not consumed with it.
i finished his notes over the weekend.
i got 21 pictures printed of all of us - me with him, rebekah with him, pat with him, the 4 kids together, etc.
if you were in a pic with him, you wrote a note to go along with it.
some of the bags have other things with the picture and note...
{the day we leave}
i would like him to open his bag each morning. and my hope is that it DOESN'T make him feel more sad, but that it makes us feel closer to him.
{the day we come HOME!}
i loved doing this for him...a lot of time and thought and tears went into these pretty bags...

I love these. We did something similar when we left the girls to go on vacation a few years ago. My sister said it got them off to a great start every morning and let them know we were thinking about them. Great job, mom! Sawyer will be fine.
so precious. the bag with the cars to bring his new brothers made me cry. you're such an awesome mom! Sawyer is going to do SO great, and so are you!
what an amazing momma you are!
he will be so excited each morning to open his surprise and feel the love from his family! :) he will do GREAT!!
my parents used to do the same thing when we went to our grandparents' houses for a week each summer. we loved it! :)
xoxo
You are an incredible mom!!!
I did this for our big kids while we were gone. It was a highlight of their day! Way to go mom.
Whew..that's tough. But he'll definitely know he's loved while you're gone. Wonderful idea!!
That is SUCH a brilliant idea! I am really torn with fact that we'll probably need to leave Ellie (our 3.5 year old daughter). How do you know the exact date of your return?
Good stuff. He will LOVE it! And I am also glad you decided to let go of the worry part...you can't let go of the sad completely, but the worry Jesus is happy to take. Maybe I should say joyful to take...'cus I think Jesus bore the brunt of our worry on the cross, and that was likely more JOY for Him at the time than happy. Love you! Hang in there! Counting down the days...
AMAZING!! I wanted to do something similar for Isaiah and Laila while we are in Africa, but it just hasn't happened. So, they are getting a Hershey's kiss and hug to eat each day we are gone to help them countdown how much longer they have.
you are an amazing mom ;-)
I love this. You are amazing.
So special! You are such an amazing Mama! You always inspire me! I will keep you all in my prayers while you travel, and I will pray for peace in your heart as you are away from your sweet boy. It won't be long, and you will all be together again soon...all 8 of you! :)
You are a good and wise mama.
Recognizing this as worry and realizing it was taking your focus off where it should be is such a grown up thing to do!
