we helped organize an event yesterday that was AMAZING.
our church worked with Stop Hunger Now to package 142,000 meals for an orphanage in Swaziland, Africa!
there were over 700 volunteers. we raised over $35,000 to cover the costs.
kids over the age of 5 were welcome to participate (this was THE coolest part to me...to watch the kids SO engaged in it!)
it was awesome.
both of our families came and working the 1st shift.
then pat's parents took our kids for the rest of the day so we could be there the whole day.
we were there for 12 hours.
and then had a fun dinner celebrating with the HOPE group.
it was a huge day. lots of work. i'm SO proud of pat for having the vision and for all the many hours he put into it. it was a huge success. so, SO many people came alongside and gave hours and hours to help set up and clean up and put hundreds of chairs back so we were ready for church this morning. and we are TIRED now. (but we did manage to get beds ready for our 2 boys this afternoon!!! bedding on and everything!)

That is amazing! I love when you post pics of RBC events.
I'm so glad it all went well. We went to sign up several weeks ahead and it was FULL. You had warned me it was filling up, so I should have gone on to sign up sooner. So I was sad about that, but just so excited about that too...that it was full! What an awesome event. So proud of you guys for leading.

We couldn't come yesterday both because of sports schedules but mainly because ALL the spots for packing food filled up before I could sign us up! (We would've skipped games to do this!).
But a young couple from our old RBC shepherd group Mike and Sarah H. went to the Stop Hunger event and Sarah had her grandparents with her, they came to Anna's soccer game afterwards and were talking about how cool it was and her g'parents were talking about trying to do a food packing event at their church when they got home! Just thought you'd want to know the LOVE is spreading!

and then i remembered you're not actually birthing these babies. it's fun how adoption feels that way, too. i totally had you pregnant in my (tired) mind. Don't worry, just today, just that moment. tricky brain. =)
oh, i did just finish two newborn galleries moments ago, so it's possible there was a trick in there!

What an AMAZING ministry this is ~ it was AWESOME to see the project unfold and to take place. Thanks Pat for desiring to get this up and running and to DO it! Simply an amazing day...seeing hundreds of people work together, detail by detail, with JOY and passion for those who are needy.

Of course I HAVE to comment on this one!! I just want to say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that these meals are going to Swaziland. Do you know what area will be receiving them?
I would love some info on this organization. We might want to partner with them some time!!!!
