day 1 - ended with a bang!

we made it!!!

it was an early morning and a long day of travel and some rainy weather
{but not a TORNADO like my parent's ended up having to drive through to their beach vacation! yikes!}

but we made it.

and got all settled.

made pizza for dinner

our house is ON the beach.
a DREAM of mine...like a HUGE dream!

we are here with a family that we LOVE...that is like family to us and our kids.

we got the kids down and then a storm blew in...thunder, lightning...CRAZY wind...and then the power went off! and came back on...and then went off for good. rebekah was the only kid that woke up and hung out with us :-)

luckily pat had noticed a flashlight and candles in a drawer in the kitchen so we were able to see.

there was some serious discussion over how to keep our food from going bad (put some in a cooler with a bag of ice/put a bag of ice IN the fridge...) and then we went to bed.

the power came back on in the middle of the night and we didn't lose any of our food...but it was a crazy beginning to our week!
