happiness...joy

"The difference between shallow happiness and a deep, sustaining joy is sorrow. Happiness lives where sorrow is not. When sorrow arrives, happiness dies. It can't stand pain. Joy, on the other hand, rises from sorrow and therefore can withstand all grief. Joy, by the grace of God, is the transfiguration of suffering into endurance, and of endurance into character, and of character into hope - and the hope that has become our joy does not (as happiness must for those who depend on it) disappoint us."

Walter Wangerin, Jr.

this makes SO much sense to me...a little lightbulb went off when i read it yesterday!
this is something i've been trying to figure out for quiet awhile...how to have JOY amidst sorrow...is that possible?
not only is it possible...they go hand in hand...

And i love all the posts above but i'm too tired to comment on all of them! i just wrote a post about moving (to publish friday) and it zapped all my energy. who knew.
love rebekah's play, and sawyer's shoe routine (I used to make the beeping noises that trucks make for ainsley because she backed into my lap so often), and hate that you have semeositisi.. or whatever it's called. running feels good in the head, but hurts the body. :) okay, that's it. have a good night.
