my children have been such sweet blessings to me this week.
have they been different children than last week? no.
it's just that i've looked at them with different eyes.
their voices are so sweet. their touch is welcome and not suffocating. i linger and ask questions and look into their eyes instead of rush and give one-word answers.
oh, they all went to bed early last night because they were full of complaints and i can't believe that i have totally blocked out how much 2 1/2 year olds whine...life is well, life.
but, somehow, His strength has flowed underneath it all, taking me from whiny moments and floating into deep conversations with my 9 year old and back to feeling like i literally can't answer one more question.
i don't know.
it's just been cool and i'm thankful.

we were delivering meals to a shelter today and there was a salvation army right next door.
i'm on the lookout for some frames...so i went in.
up on a shelf...with a TON of other "stuff"...sawyer spotted this train.
his expression, "choo!choo!" was so adorable that i bought it for him.
he played with it the rest of the day.
even brought it in the car with us when we went to our dentist appointments and basketball practice.
it was worth those few dollars!
he parked it right next to his crib when he went to bed :-)
and, you haven't seen the last of it!
i'm certain there will be a photo shoot in his future with this train!

just got this bible to read with bailey and sawyer in the mornings with a gift card i got for christmas.
i've heard great things about it and i kinda feel like bailey and sawyer aren't getting what rebekah and joshua did at their age...you know, the basic truths and stories from the bible...so, we're starting from the beginning!
but...today, bailey flipped it open to the one where Jesus lets the children come to Him...even though the disciples discouraged them and said Jesus had more important things to do.
i just LOVE the wording:
"would you have done just what these children did - run straight up to Jesus and let him pick you up in his arms and swing you and kiss you and hug you and then sit you on his lap and listen to your stories and your chats? You see, children loved Jesus, and they knew they didn't need to do anything special for Jesus to love them. All they needed to do was to run into his arms. And so that's just what they did. Well, after all the laughing and games, Jesus turned to his helpers and said, "No matter how big you grow, never grow up so much that you lose your child's heart: full of trust in God. Be like these children. They are the most important in my kingdom."
don't you just LOVE that??
faith like a child...

oh my..you should live in Iowa. Sawyer would love it. Tractors on Main Street, at the gas station, grocery store...everywhere!!!!
:)
We LOVE the Jesus Storybook Bible!!! It's just an amazing way to read about how much God loves us - and that His plan wasn't a whim in 1 b.c. but a plan from the beginning of time...
We have about 4 on our shelf at any one time to hand out as birthday presents to friends (sometimes for the kids, sometimes as presents for the mommy) :) Enjoy!
LOVE the jesus storybook bible. sometimes i read it for ME more than the kids. :)
i love that train. i heard january is the best time to thrift because of year end donations. it makes me want to go to every thrift store in a 50 mile radius, but i'm refraining. :)
glad you are enjoying the kids.
i think that guy with the tractor might have been my FIL!! i think that he has THAT exact tractor (in fact i know that is the tractor that the girls like to drive because it isn't too "big") and he does that and takes it to gas stations to fill up. in fact, we see that a lot here in iowa. when we first moved here, i thought that it was funny. now i am so used to it.
we have that bible and I LOVE it. It teaches me something every time. Caroline's favorite chapter is Daniel and the Scary Sleepover :)
that is THE best bible for kids.
haven't had to take a sharpe to it yet.
love it. we read it every night with belle. it's perfect for her.
