if you're anything like me, you almost cringe when you open your list of blogs...or your reader...or wherever it is you spend your "time with friends" on the computer.
it seems like everyone else has it all together
all their traditions and plans laid our so well
and is living in a magical land of perfect december days
preparing their precious little families for the coming of the baby Jesus...
not so.
don't believe it for a second.
{give yourself a break!}
i remember this time a few years ago...as i was just getting into the computer-world and bl@gs and all...
and being TOTALLY overwhelmed at this time of year...to the point of almost hating it...
until He led me. to Him.
and i added a couple small things that year to our family traditions...
and a couple the next year...and maybe kept the ones from the year before...or didn't...depending on how they went the year before.
it's about Him and our family.
what is it that is going to help me reflect on what He did in that humble beginning in a manger?
what is it that is going to make this a celebration for my children?
what is it that is going to nurture an atmosphere of worship in our home?
what is it that is going to create the time to allow for conversations and playing under the tree?
so...now it's your turn!
what small tradition might you add this year?
there's no pressure to continue it for 15 years to come...you might or you might not.
{give yourself a break} and look to Him...not to them.

Nice to hear that your world is not perfect either. We started our Jesse Tree devotional time last night and I had to send McKenna to her room b/c she was screaming and crying. NICE! Definitely not the moment I had imagined, but tonight she prayed for real without any help for the first time! Priceless!
As for a new tradition! I realized just how many Christmas books I have, so I wrapped each one and the kids get to choose one from under the tree each day to unwrap. Sort of like what you do, but not as cool b/c it's just books. But now we're going to actually read all of our books which will be fun!
for the past 6 years or so, for the 4 days leading up to christmas and christmas day, we read one "chapter" each day out of "Mary's first Christmas".

we LOVE this book. amazing illustrations. neat perspective. each section is just the right length for reading one per night. it's my favorite time with the kids during the holiday season!
thanks for this b/c it is just how i feel. everyone has nice little traditions but i think wilson is too young to enjoy any. can't wait to start some, but feel so inept right now. love you
