ok.
i won't leave you hanging... :-)
so...a few weeks ago i got this idea in my head.
i tried to ignore it. and i couldn't.
i ran it by pat, hoping he'd say it was crazy.
he said it was a good idea.
so, i ran with it.
our neighborhood is going to build a well for clean water...AND awareness about clean water.
check it out: broadlands well
and if you want to follow the progress: charity:water - broadlands well
pray for us on December 4! that it would go well!!!
my kids and i passed out about 400 of these:
over the last 24 hours.
it's been kinda crazy.
we put them in the mailbox part, because lots of people around here are out of town for thanksgiving and i didn't want them to get wet in the rain (as opposed to putting them in the little cubby below the mailbox)
well, i was informed by a *very kind* mail lady and *very helpful* man that this is NOT a good idea,
JUST as we were finishing this morning (really, 400 is only about half of the total amount we have to do...but it was the goal for today) and coming in for lunch and naps.
so, i quickly PACKED the kids lunches and we went back out and MOVED them all to the bottom cubby of the mailboxes.
wow.
i am SUCH a people pleaser, i do NOT like upsetting people. and i certainly didn't mean to!
i am a mess about it...hoping i didn't upset others that i don't know about
(AND my name, phone number, email and address are all on that flyer - so if they want to find me, i've made it pretty easy!)
we've already had some GREAT lessons with the kids.
last night their attitudes were NOT pleasant.
today was MUCH better...even having to do it all twice!
doing the right thing is HARD work.
i have the headache and aching body to prove it...
now pat and i are headed out to try to knock out christmas shopping for our kids (and some others) while my parents watch the kids.
i can barely think straight, so we'll see how this goes...

oh man! bummer!!! i got a very not so nice note from the post office a few years ago when my girls delivered thank you notes and put them in people's mailboxes. it explained to me (in a very unkind way) that i was violating section blah blah blah of the US postal code which was punishable by huge fine/jailtime blah blah blah. seriously - they were 3 and 5 at the time! i was shocked. so i can't even imagine the huge bummer to find out that you did all of those "wrong". but i guess a good lesson for the kids to learn to correct their mistakes (i am trying to look at the bright side of it :) )have fun Christmas shopping :)
ugh.
awesome, courtney. really awesome!!
Great idea! I love that you are engaging your neighbors in God's work. Now that we are back in our house (!), we'd love to have your family over for dinner. Let's shoot for the first or second week in January? It seems less likely to conflict with a holiday party.
On a side note, thanks also for donating to the iPad campaign. :)
oh my goodness! that is awful! I feel so bad that you had to go back and redo it.
But the project is awesome!
