with the exception of the POURING rain the first half of the 8 hour trip.
but once it stopped raining, the sun came out!
not enough to dry all our clothes that had gotten soaked in the car top carrier, though.
they are draped all over our hotel room. :-)
it's just water.
the kids are excited ;-)
we spent the evening at the pool.
then walked around the CUTEST town of southport, nc.
it has the potential for being really neat.
but it actually seems very deserted and like it's not doing very well??
90% of the stores/restaurants were closed at 6 pm on a saturday night in july.
weird, no?
we still enjoyed walking around.
it's possible she might not live through this week.
or else i might not live through this week...
going to find a potty!
then we drove around looking for a place to eat dinner.
we were trying to find someplace "interesting" - like, NOT a chain.
nothing.
so we ended up at subway.
and our bellies are full...which is good enough for me at this point.
we put sawyer to bed and went to the lobby for a few minutes to let him fall asleep.
i read to the kids.
i'm pretty sure sawyer only needed about 1.5 minutes to fall asleep :-)
barely ever knew what time it was today.
that was so nice.
got here when we got here.
ate dinner when we were hungry.
went to bed when we were tired.
i hope a LOT of the week ahead is like that...
now i'm blogging.

the kids are supposed to be asleep next to us but it seems like that's not going to happen until we turn the light off...so...good night!

never heard of southport - but it looks like a cute little town. that's part of my favorite thing about road trips - getting to discover new places like that!! enjoy - hope everyone sleeps well!
and MAJOR bummer about the car carrier getting soaked - is yours canvas? Ours is some kind of weatherproofed something...but i wonder if it would withstand a downpour...hmmmmm....
I wish I knew you were going to Southport. Our beach place is right near there on Oak Island. It is kind of a sleepy little town but there are actually a couple of really cute, not chain restaurants but they are off the beaten path and hard to find. If you go again, let me know and I'll point you in the right direction!
