a nice weekend ahead...starting today!

we had NOTHING today.
no errands to run.
didn't "need" to go to the gym.
no chores that HAD to be done.

it's been so nice!

joshua slept til 8:30!
2-3 mornings a week we are up, fed and out the door to the gym at 7:30 am.
it was nice to let him sleep.

after a couple hours at home, we headed out for a hike at a local park.
i love that joshua grabbed brown bags for bailey and himself to collect "treasures" :-)

we would get to a fork in the path and joshua (who was running ahead) would turn back to me (who was walking holding sawyer's sweet, pudgy, warm little hand as he walked next to me) and say, "which way, mom??"

because i always have a plan.
a schedule.

but i didn't.

so, i'd say, "you pick!"
he'd smile and pick a direction.

it was so fun for my heart.

{can you tell bailey got a hair cut? yesterday all 3 girls - me, rebekah and bailey - got 3 inches off our hair. rebekah's looks adorable. bailey's looks so much more healthy. and i HATE mine. but i only get my hair cut twice a year so i have to take a good chunk off...it's that inbetween length where i have to actually DO it. it was so long that i didn't really have to DO it and it looked fine...ugh. oh well, it will grow.}

i wish you could have heard sawyer screaming in excitement over the geese.
there was also a tractor there working.
and planes flying overhead.
and rocks to throw in the water.
all his favorite things.
it was like Disneyworld for him.

and i had to take a picture of this geese family!
2 parents and 4 babies. just like us...for now :-)

looking forward to a great weekend!
this morning i said, "it's a 3 day weekend!" and joshua said, "does that mean we don't have to do anything during the weekend?"

he really didn't know what it meant. but he could tell i was excited about it. so he was trying to figure it out...so cute.

i said, "no. it means you don't have to go to school for 3 days."
he raised his eyebrows and said, "hmm..."
then i said, "and daddy doesn't have to go to work for 3 days."
THAT got him excited :-)

i'm so glad you were able to ENJOY today! i love the first picture of the 3 craning down looking at who knows what - sawyer is so cute now that he's right in the middle of it - he probably doesn't even know WHAT the other two are studying, but he wants to be part of it! I LOVE days like that! :)

i love the do nothing days...it is those days that you end up doing what matters most b/c there is no list. i also love how you find cool walks to take your kids on...i will have to find out where you go.
