a chapter in my book

by 7:30 am i had read my Bible and given my day to Him, run/walked 4 miles, made 5 lunches, "good morning-ed" 5 people, got a cute 21 month old dressed, moved laundry from washer to dryer, fed 6 people breakfast, saw pat and rebekah out the door and dropped joshua and bailey off at a friend's house.

sawyer and i were headed about an hour away to a breakfast for the Christian school i taught at...when i had just graduated from college...and had been married for 1 year...and had NO kids.

this was a flashback to a chapter in my book.
a precious chapter.
but one that i don't "visit" very often.

i saw my youth pastor's wife. the one that taught me what a wife should look like (and i don't mean on the outside...but on the inside.) i hadn't spoken to her in years. we keep up with each other through my parents, kinda, but looking in her eyes spoke a thousand words. without speaking, i said, "thank you." and, without speaking back she said, "i'm so proud of who He has made you."

my parents were there. (my sweet dad watched sawyer so i could attend the breakfast...i'm not sure who had more fun :-) my dad...or sawyer!)

my sister was there. she attended the school. and got to see some of her old classmates. and i got to sit next to her and smile at her. that was a gift!

i saw old neighbors. and ladies that are friends of my mom's that i don't even know but that have prayed for me over the years. i saw teachers i taught with. and children i taught (they are graduating from HIGH SCHOOL this year and next!) and parents of children i taught. to hear that their kids remember me is amazing. wow. and i got to meet a 2nd grade girl from Rwanda...that has been brought here to the states for medical reasons. she said she would help my sons :-)

i'm not going to get into the whole "public school/christian school/homeschool" thing...BUT that Christian school is a gift. they are doing amazing things...every day...in those classrooms and hallways. i am blessed to have been a part of it. and they keep growing and changing with each year...which shows me God is working there! so exciting!!!

a chapter in my book.
that is closed.
but that i got to peek into again today.

and then i got to rush home to pick joshua and bailey up from a birthday party and feed them lunch in the car and get joshua on the bus and make pizza dough for dinner guests and welcome yard sale donations and work on "stuff" in the quiet of naptime and plan for the craziness of the weekend that is upon us...

but that gift of this morning hovers in my mind and i'm thankful.

i was so wishing that i could have gone to this breakfast too! (and i am jealous of you :) ) i miss all of those wonderful people too! i am so glad that you got to go! i would have loved to be able to see some of "my" kiddos! please give your mom a big hug for me. i miss her hugs. :) she gave me hugs the same way that my mom gives hugs and she always made me feel like my mom was physically closer to me and that we weren't separated by miles and miles while i was in VA. have a great weekend.

Courtney, as I read this blog post the quote that came to mind was one I just posted on my FB wall. I felt it was so appropriate to what you were feeling. Here it is:

Proverbs 31 Ministries - Faith means believing in advance what will only make sense in reverse. ~Philip Yancey {You stand by faith. ~ Romans 11} Make this your prayer this weekend..."I believe; help my unbelief! ~ Mark 9

What your former youth pastor's wife said to you is so true. What words of encouragement she spoke to you. On your days of frustration, go back to those words..."I'm so proud of who He has made you". You are an amazing woman of God!

I happened to be looking at my cousins facebook pictures and saw your dad and sawyer in one of the pictures. I've never met you, but read your blog and thought how small a world it is.
