the kids have been planning this ALL WEEK.
seriously.
since Monday.
i don't know how they got it in their head...but every day this week they were working on something to do with "our special day on saturday".
so cute.
they told us not to eat breakfast.
we told them not to use the oven/microwave/stove. :-)
i ran early...took a quick shower...and then we were to get in our bed.
they start coming up the stairs with trays of stuff.
{i had seen it all over the counters when i got a cup of water after my run...plates and trays EVERYWHERE!}
they each had a plate with a poptart on it.
pat and i each had a plate with 2 pieces of toast that had been toasted at some point in the morning :-)
they sang happy birthday to us!
it was our early birthday party!
{both our birthdays are in april...}
they buttered our toast right before handing it to us.
and we all had amazing cups of ice water!
ignoring the million crumbs left on our bed from the toast and poptarts, rebekah consulted her list as to what was next:
{side note: not sure if i should be sad that she makes lists already?? am i too "list oriented"?? or is it a good thing?? ugh...}
the list is hysterical...lunch at red robin...dinner at five guys...cupcakes after dinner...none of that is happening...but we made as many things on her list happen as were possible today!
so...we headed downstairs for gifts.
they had 2 gifts for each of us.
and then 1 joint gift.
all wrapped and sitting by the fireplace.
we each got our favorite candy: me - gummy worms, pat - reese's cups
we also each got another gift: me - rebekah's old jewelry box, pat - this piece of fabric that rebekah sewed {it stands for Happy Early Birthday! "HEB"}
our joint gift was another sewing masterpiece...the continent of Africa sewed onto another piece of fabric. is that amazing or what?!? {don't mind my crazy just-out-of-the-shower hair...}
after consulting the list again...we played knock-out...it's this game we've been playing a LOT lately with a basketball and hoop.
wasn't that the cutest thing ever??
and then we had to get on with our day...chores/projects/etc.

Chuckling OUT LOUD at this! It is so sweet. You're funny Courtney!Your kids remind me SO MUCH of mine. Have I told you that before? ☺ They do the exact same stuff. Maybe it's the 8 year old girl ringleaders?
tisha - i think it IS the 8 year old girl ringleaders! SO thankful for them most days!!!
I noticed #8, too. How about she just cleans your house 1 time and then comes to my house? :) (I guess it's a bit of a drive to KS, though.) :)
Courtney....I LOVE you kiddos!!! Love the sweet thoughts that come to their mind....must have been modeled by you & Pat!! #8 just totally cracked me up - clean the house two times! When they're done they can come over here and clean!!! You & Pat are doing an awesome job raising 4 of the sweetest kids around, keep up the great work!!!!! ;-)

Before I even read any of the other comments I was gonna say my favorite part of your post was "Clean the house 2 times"----wow, that girl is incredible :)
that really is so funny - but what's with "clean the house two times" on her list?? is that something you do often? and it is QUITE a list for a little girl to make! she watches VERY closely, doesn't she? love the africa fabric gift! :)
