The Help

finished this book LATE last night {book club is tonight}

loved it.

set in Jackson, Mississippi in the early 1960's.
portrays the relationships between the white ladies and their colored maids.

one of the many things i loved about it was how the author wrote in the voice {and language - and it was like a different language!} of the maids.

one line from the book: {there are LOTS of great ones! i want to go back and reread it already...}
"Wasn't that the point of the book? For women to realize, We are just two people. Not that much separates us. Not nearly as much as I'd thought."

i'm not sure i would have read it {or heard about it} unless i had to read it for book club.
thankful that i read it.
and, usually i just get the book club books from the library but for some reason i bought this one.
also very thankful for that!

put it on your "stocking" list or something!

it's a good book!

It is really good. Our bookclub read it too - and now some are even giving it as teacher's gifts for Christmas. A novel anyone would enjoy.
