carving

i'll be honest.
not my favorite tradition.
every year i try to play "oh! really? we need to do that?!?"

pat has always made us do it.
and now that the kids are older...they remember and make us do it, too.

so, it's done.
pat basically does it.
i basically took these 2 pictures and then went and gave sawyer a nice, LONG bath :-)
and...wow! it was done by the time i came back!
and they all had fun.
which is what matters.

I'm getting ready to go snuggle with a cuddly little baby while my hubby and kids do this same thing! :)

i LOVE pumpkin carving.

btw...i made your sweet and sour chicken tonight.
YUM!! loved it!
question...at what point during the preparations do you freeze it?

I am glad I am not the only one who does not "cherish" this tradition.

Can't wait to try the recipe... always looking for a good freezer meal. I am cooking with a friend sunday night but don't have anything but chicken stock. Need to make a quick trip to the store for the bullion.

I'm not a big fan of carving either - but we use this prayer while we do!

Dear God,

As I carve my pumpkin, help me say this prayer:

Open my mind so I can learn about You;
(Cut the top of the pumpkin)

Take away all my sin and forgive me for the
wrong things I do; (Clean out the inside)

Open my eyes so Your Love I will see;
(Cut eyes)

I'm sorry for turning up my nose to all You've given me;
(Cut a nose)

Open my ears so Your Word I will hear;
(Cut ears)

Open my mouth so I can tell others You're near;
(Cut mouth)

Let Your Light shine in all I say and do! Amen.
(Place a candle and light)
