some thoughts...
i know i've said this...but it was a GREAT vacation!
i have no idea why...but it seemed our best...even though we have "lots" of kids!
such a good balance of good time with the kids, as a family, as a couple, with my family, and with my extended family.
and some good exercise and good food and even some good rest!
{one morning ALL the kids slept til 7:44 am!}
i truly felt relaxed inside.
on the outside i'm still "doing" it all...washing kids, making lunches, doing laundry, washing kids, changing diapers, making sure everyone is doing ok, washing kids (we normally went to the beach 2-3 times a day...so there was LOTS of sand to wash off!) but being in a different place...on vacation...and with some extra hands...did help me to relax.
and, thank you, to those of you that told me it's OK to leave the deeper stuff alone for a few days.
i tried.
and it was nice.
and now we're back.
man...does life hit HARD!
it's a "tax-free" weekend this weekend...so i took the older 2 out to get jeans, a couple shirts, and their school supplies.
let's just say it wasn't quite the quality time memory i was going for.
and they were out of stuff.
but i think it was still fun.
and it was definitely productive.
it was different for me to have the older 2 and pat to have the younger 2.
i didn't realize how often it is the opposite scenario til i was in the middle of it!
i have no idea what's in store for us this week.
i've tried to not look at my calendar.
i'm just feeling so thankful for all my blessings.
and enjoying the last few hours of "vacation"!

It looks and sounds like the perfect vacation. Im so glad you totally enjoyed yourself.
so glad for your refreshment my friend!
that's funny about saying pat usually takes the older ones while you're with the younger ones. i think that's probably true....now that you're nursing-free though, you're freed up! interesting observation!
Glad it was such a great vacation! What you said ("I have no idea why...but it seemed our best...even though we have "lots" of kids!") made me think that perhaps it was the best vacation BECAUSE you have so many kids! Lots of fun, lots of excitement, and with Sawyer weaned, they were also able to spread more of that energy around to the rest of the family. You had the fun of enjoying all of them without feeling overwhelmed by them...how God wants us to be all the time!! Hooray for a great vacation!
