good intentions

this is what i brought home from walmart this morning:
~a tomato plant to plant in our yard...for all the homemade salsa i will make
~thread to make curtains for the family room (i have the fabric...lest you think i'm making fabric from the thread :-))
~canning jars and pectin (oh, yes, i know what pectin is! thanks to googling "how to make strawberry jam") to make strawberry jam once we pick our own strawberries from the farm!

good intentions, huh?
i often have good intentions.
i'll let you know if they go anywhere...

you will have a fun time!! :) scott and the girls planted our garden this weekend for our yummy summer foods (i am sad to admit it but it isn't "my thing" but they love it and so does he - however they spent more time digging up worms than planting seeds!!) we planted tomatoes too and peppers for homemade salsa this summer! :) a quick sidenote...i have never done any canning...sounds like a ton of work to me! :) but i make a lot of jams/jellies. if you don't want to can them, you can always freeze them. that is what i do and it works out wonderfully. just leave a little extra room at the top of the jar/plastic container for it to expand when it freezes. also...i have a super yummy, really easy recipe for strawberry or raspberry jam that uses frozen berries (you might could use fresh too but i don't know about the right consistency etc....). it is fun to make in the winter and tastes like you used fresh berries. we make it around here for cheap Christmas presents for teachers etc. sorry that this is so long! enjoy your monday and hope that the sun is shining! :)

I am a bit weirded out because at lunchtime today I was flipping through a magazine, saw a recipe for making your own strawberry jam, and thought "Hmm..should save that for Courtney." Maybe I have ESP. And you know from my blog we are doing the tomatoes/peppers thing this year too. Luckily for me, my husband is the one excited about making all the homemade salsa!
