special dinner surprise!

remember we had to reschedule our special dinner from the other night?
we went out tonight...
{quick family pic before we left}

we went to the melting pot! {fondue place}
not cheap.
not really for little kids.
but we went there last year when we were at the beach during spring break and the kids still talk about it.
they loved it.
{we didn't have a baby then...}

and we knew it would be a bit challenging.
and not super relaxing.
nor any deep, long conversations.
but, as we were driving there, i looked over at pat and said,
"we are committed to this.
there's no going back. we don't say, why did we do this? in the middle of it.
we make the best of it.
that's all we can do."

and we did.
there were some moments.
there were lots of potty runs.
and some spilled stuff.

and some smiles.
and yummy food.
2 hours at a table just the 6 of us!
wow!

sawyer was not very content {you know, he has a slight fever of 103ish, so give him a break}
we cornered him off in this area and let him loose with my purse.
that bought us about 30 minutes.
and pat was very gracious to pretty much be in charge of entertaining him so that i could enjoy the other 3 kids {and some food! YUM! haven't really eaten real food all week!}

LOVE this pic.
the chocolate at the end.
uh, YUM!
warning: don't go to the bathroom when that chocolate is on the table.
it will be all gone by the time you get back! :-)

it was a memory.
an expensive memory.
but we "saved" a lot of money this week by not going anywhere
{i like to say that to pat. he rolls his eyes at me :-)}

we rented slumdog millionaire on the way home...good night!

Looks like a great time! Our kids love that place but your right it is expensive. Everytime we go we need to take out a second mortgage! Happy Easter! Glad you are feeling better and I hope Sawyer runs through this quicker than you.

we haven't been to a melting pot in years - i think since we lived in memphis. it is SOOO good - i bet the kids absolutely loved it! dipping things in cheese and chocolate - it doesn't get any better! :) and i say dinner there is way cheaper than a week at a beach house, right? :)
