some randomness...but stick with me to the end, k?
i finished the blog book...friday night.
i was determined to have it DONE so i could enjoy spring break and not be consumed by it.
i was consumed by it last week. {i've been told i have a "stubborn streak" and it comes in handy at times like that...i got it DONE! i don't even want to know how many hours it took...but it's DONE! ordered. will arrive next week! 404 pages!!! whew!}
how CUTE is this picture of bailey and sawyer crawling around chasing each other?
it's blurry, but still cute!
they are both LAUGHING!!!
and then she takes off...and he follows...
"where did she go?"
so fun, this stage with sawyer!
joshua finally had his first t-ball practice on saturday.
pat took him, so i don't have pictures.
don't worry...we have plenty more practices and games! :-)
so, it's spring break.
we aren't going anywhere.
pat is working {he is hoping to take a couple days off at the end of the week...}
but it's just fun to not have the school schedule.
my life really doesn't change that much.
rebekah is the only one in school.
they got to "sleep in rooms" last night {that's what they call it when they all get to sleep together}
first thing this morning we started a list.
a list of ways we can bless others this week.
i wanted to make sure they didn't head off on this week being consumed with themselves.
and the fun they should be having.
you know.
all that selfish kind of stuff that rears it's ugly head...{if i'm honest...in my heart EVERY.SINGLE.DAY} this was as much for me as for them.
{and we hopefully will also have some fun this week...i'm working on that...}
we were going to have lots of "service men" at our house today...
the termite guys...the mailmen...trashmen...recycling men.
we made chocolate chip cookies, packaged them up, and handed them out with a "thanks!"
LOVE this picture...
anxiously waiting for the mail man.
see how joshua is on his tiptoes? CUTE!
oh, and rebekah asked me to do her hair like "kirsten" this morning...and we had the TIME since we didn't have to rush off to school! love that!
and then watching the trashmen make their way down the street...
lest you think this was a perfect experience, here's the "real" stuff...
they argued so much over who's turn it was to put the next ingredient in, they ALL had to put their chairs away and not help.
then, they argued over who got to hold the bag for the mailman...SCREAMING at each other in the road.
we had a good talk over lunch about how...
#1 - we wanted to bless people we don't really know. it's easy to bless our FRIENDS...but even more of a blessing if you don't know them and might not see them ever again (termite guys...hopefully won't see them again ;-))
#2 - do you think it was truly a blessing if OUTWARDLY you're blessing someone...but you argue in the process to get there?? was that a blessing to each other? or to me? to argue and yell? hopefully that is a little foundation for how it matters what is in our HEARTS and not just what our actions are.
so, some frustration...but hopefully some teaching moments...and maybe even some fun! :-)

probably goes without saying that I needed you to add that last little bit -
I was feeling a little 'small' about the fact that my mind wouldn't even go to the 'how can we bless others' right now and then you made me feel better ;-)
(I love the reminder to bless others but also the remider that it might not be as I expected or hoped it'd be for the kids ;-)
...and I'm on my way to a nap right now ;-)
You are such an amazing mother Courtney! It shows in the wonderful little people you have in your house. I love that you thought of this and are doing this with your family. It's beautiful. I'm sure all of the people you blessed today are grateful and your children are growing to be even more terrific as a result of this awesome experience.
You're such a good mom, Courtney. :)
Ahhh, yes. That arguing over EVERY silly little thing, not so much of a blessing! We have plenty of that intermingled with the fun moments of activity and unfortunately, on days like today, it winds up with ME being the one who is not a blessing to others. Ugh.
So nice of you to make cookies for the service men. And, I super love the pictures of Saywer following Bailey.
These are the days that I read your blog and think, oh how I wish we could hang out together : )
I'm with Tisha...cant we all have some bloggers anonomous weekend away together! So many of these people I'd like to meet in person!
nice work, courtney. great ideas.
well done.
Great story. As a kid from a family with 4 kids it sounds very familiar but through all the yelling, they are getting the message. You are a great mom to take the time to do it.
you're such a good mom to those kids courtney. i love the tangible examples of the way you teach them. Glad you ALL get a little break from some of the hustle and bustle this week!
Love you, Courtney. Your kids are blessed every single day to have YOU for their mom! :)
PS - I love Rebekah's hair :)
