skills for my daughter

just like with everything, there is a balance.
i don't want to sign my kids up for EVERYTHING {ALL those activities} because i just think it's too much.
they need time to just BE {we ALL need time to just BE!}
time to play.
and pretend.
{and play Memory....played 3 times today already...}
but there are a few activities that are important to me.
that my kids WILL do.
swimming is one - it's a life-saving skill that i think is important.
piano will also be one {hopefully we'll GET a piano at some point so that they can take lessons...}
they don't have to be a concert pianist. but getting the basics down of music/notes/etc. is important {i think.}
basic cooking skills and cleaning skills will be taught.
and sewing is another one.
i have sweet memories of my great aunt Elma sewing. she had quite the set-up in her basement! and i was jealous of my cousin, Tori, that got to be around it and learn from her.

so...i saw these kits on etsy.
it's a dress/shirt that comes ready to sew.
you don't have to cut out the pattern pieces {i don't enjoy pattern pieces}.
and it comes with EVERYTHING you need {except a sewing machine!} the fabric, ribbon and thread!
rebekah and i made it together.
{let me just say, i am NOT a seamstress. i can sew shapes on shirts and simple stuff like that.}

she pushed the pedal on the machine and helped pin the fabric.
it probably took 3 hours total.

didn't it turn out cute?!?
i got one for bailey too.
i will let rebekah help me make it soon...

That is so, so, so cute! Such an important skill to pass on. I can't sew at all, and wish I could. What great memory making with your daughter!

It turned out so cute!Sewing is a great skill, I love that my mom taught me. Since then we have ended up helping each other on several projects.
