Parents who raised kids with a life-impacting faith spent between 90-120 minutes a day engaging each other.
To place that in context, the typical American family spends less than fifteen minutes of direct parent-child conversation.
i haven't read it.
i might.
but it's sad. yet i can see it happening very easily. it takes being VERY intentional to connect with them each day. there are so many things vying for our time and attention.
go. look your kids in the eyes and talk to them. watch them bloom and grow before your very eyes.
oh, and his prayer was good. it helped me see how Pat feels when he gets home. as tired as i am from my day with the kids...he's just as tired walking into a whole new environment after his day at work.

i was just telling jim last night that belle has a way of locking her eyes into mine and finding great meaning in everyday things that she says. and she wants to know i *know* what she's saying- and it's all in the eyes. i try to make sure i don't move my gaze before she's ready for me to. i'm learning from her, and i love it. and i'm trying to keep up. i don't want to lose this- isn't this what we hope for as parents? it's like a gift. my son is not an eye-locker so it's so much harder and i haven't found the trick. man i hope i don't lose this.
sounds like an interesting book. thanks.

I have heard of this book before and wanted to read it. But it got lost in my list of "sounds like a good book" and I can't get through the ones I have on my bookshelf now. If you get it, let me borrow. I'll do the same for you!
