joshua is 5
this little boy has been sweet since the moment we brought him home from the hospital.
he actually SAT in the swing and was CONTENT!
it was so wonderful!
he was a HUGE baby...lots of rolls.
and now he just keeps getting taller and leaner every month.
he loves his sisters and brother SO much.
he is very sensitive.
also fearful. doesn't like "bad guys" in movies AT ALL.
we are just realizing how deep those feelings run in him.
and we need to be very careful. even "G" movies that the girls like, he doesn't.
he does NOT like knowing he's done something wrong - whether it was intentional or not.
he has a long attention span - he can focus on something for a lot longer than i would expect.
like finish a 100 piece puzzle in one sitting.
he loves meat. doesn't like rice or pasta.
he is a GREAT sleeper.
he still takes a nap every day - even though i tell him he can just play quietly.
he LOVES time with his daddy. playing a game, or doing a puzzle, or building lego's.
his "love language" is definitely quality time.
sometimes, when he gets really "tickled" he laughs so hard and his eyes water.
it's so cute.
he's a crazy man on his bike. or a scooter. or a sled.
(hence the missing teeth.)
he loves all sports.
and being outside.
he's VERY particular and neat.
his room is ALWAYS spotless.
his bed always made perfectly.
everything in it's place (i love him for that!) :-)
he's pretty quiet. very quiet, actually.
it's hard to know what's going on in his brain and heart and soul a lot of the time.
and that's frustrating to me, as a mom.
i want to know.
but when words DO come out, they are a result of lots of previous thought and pondering.
actually, as i'm typing this, maybe joshua and i are more alike than i realized ever before :-)
(see, this is why i blog!)
i love that, most days, when he wakes up from his nap, he still needs to find me and get a little hug. then he's off to play.
it is a blessing to be his mom.
to spend my days with him.
i am having a hard time looking forward to a few months from now when he'll go off to school.
i will miss him alongside me, giving me his sweet smiles and his sweet words of love that he's so quick to say.
more than anyone else, he loves "shows" and computer games. i guess it's a guy thing.
he has a calmness about him that i love.
and i wish i had.
