is your heart hard? (do you want a fun bag?)

"Prosperity hardens the heart."
William Wilberforce

"We need to realize that how we spend our time, what our money goes toward, and where we will invest our energy is equivalent to choosing God or rejecting Him."
Francis Chan

i know that there are many of you out there that read this blog that have never commented.
and i know there might be a few that wouldn't want me to know that you read my blog.
(which, is silly, because i LOVE that you would be interested in my little life but, anyways...)
and i'm pretty sure that there are some of you that WANT to be a VOICE for clean water but, by doing so, would give up your "lurking" on my blog. don't let something silly like that keep you from giving. from doing what your heart is urging you to do. from choosing God and His people.

go and be a voice.
you could even give a fake name if you're worried about that list on the sidebar.
the people drinking clean water for the first time certainly won't care if you gave the correct name or not. they will just be thankful that you CARED for THEM.
if you don't like giving online - you can mail in a check.
if you need help or have questions - ASK ME.

and, you even get a CUTE bag if you become a voice!
because someone cares SO MUCH about clean water and they are giving YOU a bag to give WATER to them.

what about the organization? i've had some questions about it and how it's run and the fact that it isn't a "Christian organization".
here are some thoughts from a pastor in MD on that...
(he's obviously way better with words than i am)
"Charity:Water does not claim to be a Christian organization. The founder, Scott Harrison, in telling his story on the Charity:Water website, quotes the New Testament a number of times, leading one to think that he probably is a Christian. And in fact he is. You can hear his testimony here. He is leading an organization that is doing work that pleases Jesus. That his organization is not explicitly Christian allows it to work in areas of the world that are closed off to Christians, and allows him to go to places and talk about Charity:Water that would be closed off to him if his was an exclusively Christian organization.
The Bible calls all people--Christian and otherwise--to care for the widow, the orphan, the infirm, the lonely, the stranger. It wasn't called being a Christian; it was called being human. And anyone can and should do that. And when they do, it is good. God's work is occurring all around the world, some of it by Christian organizations, some of it in secular organizations with Christians in it. And probably some of it done by people and organizations that are not Christian."
from a pastor in MD - taken from a post he wrote. you should read the whole thing.

so, go.
be a voice.
they need you.
you can give $20 a month for 12 months. you can give $240 today and be done for the year.

and, i realize that some of us won't be called to be a voice for water.
that's fine.
just don't let your heart be hardened.
keep your eyes open to how He wants you to love those around you.
for me, one of the ways i am is by helping give clean water.

thanks, courtney. nice work.
that william wilberforce was a smart kid, wasn't he? there 's a lot that can be thought about with that statement. :)

i'll hopefully be joining soon---once i figure out if we're getting salary slashes or raises, which is kind of scary right now. (we just had to slash staffing which was very sad.) we find out between now and march. if we don't get raises, well, I'll have to stick with our current giving (which includes blood:water mission, so some money to water). Hopefully we'll know soon...I want to be part of this networks of mamas.

good work :) hope you enjoyed your cheesecake!
