the hug

**warning: possibly (most likely) too sappy and personal

it was dark outside. the house was still dark. but my alarm is going off. i woke up and looked over. he was gone. i had heard him come to bed at some point in the night (found out later - around 1 am). yet he was already up and downstairs praying and reading his Bible. i didn't get up to run. too tired (and giving my legs a break for the long run tomorrow). i get up and start down the stairs to make lunches before i have to get the kids up and start our day. he is starting up the stairs to get in the shower and get ready for his day. we meet on the landing in the middle. no words. we just hug. there's nothing to say. the hug says it all,
"i love you"
"i understand"
"i appreciate you"
"i'm sorry"
"i love you"
"i'm praying for you"
"i'm here no matter what"
"i love you"
"i'm trying my best"
"thank you"
"i wish i could help you"
"i love you"
and we continued on our way. i guess a hug can be worth a thousand words too.
i've remembered and thought about that hug many times today. it's helped me through some "moments". i wonder if he's thought about it too...

you know what else speaks a thousand words? that in spite of long hours, not enough sleep, not enough down time, and all that stress, he was still up early praying and reading the Word. Praying for you AND your husband today.
