about the camera!
i'll have to check into the UV protector. sounds like a great idea with 4 little kids.
i'm also considering something like this. i just know i'm going to drop it.
yes, it's the canon rebel xsi.
with the 18-55 mm and the 55-250 mm lenses.
i haven't used the 55-250 lens yet.
still playing with the other one.
i absolutely LOVE it.
(keep the tips coming, i need all the help i can get!)

the family picture you commented about on my blog... taken with the timer feature on my Rebel. There is hope for mommy to finally be in pictures again! :)
that might be good, too, but i would double up b/c things could still scratch the lens. i don't know anything about those, but it looks like it can work with the UV protector. The UV protector is somthing you apply to the lens---screw on. it is thin and you can barely tell it's there. the prof camera shop did not let me leave without a UV protector. they said it is that important b/c nothing can scratch the lens. it's also protects from dust getting inside, which is also important, and protects against impact if dropped. I am reading a tip book written by a leading world photographer and he carries 7 things including his camera and lenses. he says the UV cover is imperative to protect lens from scratches and from breaks...once dropped his macro lens straight down on a rock head first and the lens protector smashed but saved the 5grand lens entirely. so that's my endorsement, because i know how much i love my camera (and it is soon to be my source of income!). can't wait to see more pics!
ps- you would buy two: your larger lens (which is a great zoom length, btw!) is likely wider.
okay, last one---do you ahve the black hard curvy thing for the end of the 55-250? that's great, too, and UV fits inside it. it makes it easy to set down outside and i can tell you some fun angles to catch of the kids while playing. it keeps out sun glare...

Hi Courtney, my name is Jessica and I found your blog through Leah's blog. I have been reading your blog periodically and finally decided to leave a comment! I read about your new camera. I got that same camera a few months ago as an early Christmas present! I really love it. I took a class back in October and I'm hoping to take another one in the spring. I also need to get a UV filter, I plan to get one this week. Anyway thanks for allowing me to visit your blog. Feel free to check mine out as well!
Ooh, I'm jealous you got both lenses! I just started with the 18-55 mm. I didn't know about the UV filter, but now I'll have to find out about it. Keep learning so you can show me when you visit...not really looking forward to actually having to read the whole manual!
Courtney, I have a Nikon SLR D70 and have a place I love to purchase my equipment from. Ace Photo, 44710 Cape Ct.,Suite 122,Ashburn , VA 20147. They are off of Beaumeade Circle. The people there are very helpful and their prices are good. Be sure you get that filter sooner rather than later cause my camera got knocked off a chair onto a cement patio and only the filter broke. They told me had I not had the filter on the lense I would have been replacing the lense or having a huge repair bill. Hope this is helpful.
Courtney, here's Ace Photo's website - http://www.acephoto.net/
