it wasn't "the plan". but earlier this week pat decided (with a number of other guy friends) to head back to JMU and go to the playoff football game tonight.
instead of dreading tonight, i chose to make it into a very fun evening.
we started out after naps on a walk and a trip to the playground.
joshua took rebekah for a ride on "the bumps"
sawyer enjoyed the swing...again
how cute is this?
took baths.
got in our jammies (even ME!)
and went through the McD's drivethrough for a picnic dinner. (thanks for the gift cards grandparents!!!)
then ate our dinner (while Sawyer napped) and watched Samantha (it's an American Doll movie.)

thanks for the recommendation, Holly!
this was the "present" that was opened today - the movie.
it was really cute.
while they were drinking their hot chocolate, rebekah said, "this is way more fun than a football game!" ha!
then i made some cookies from one of those jars that have most of the ingredients in it already.
the kids didn't get any tonight, just got to help stir.
umm...i can't WAIT to have one (or two) of these in a minute!
and play.
painted the girls nails - bailey got some on her face.
the other 3 are in the same room playing for a bit before they go to sleep.
it was a fun evening.
a memory for me.
the best part was i put my list away - literally AND mentally.
i was JUST with them and it was wonderful.
holding them, listening to them, loving them.
now i'm going to get one of those cookies and i have a phone date with a friend!
happy friday night!

remember, you always get one extra cookie when you're nursing (and I'm pretty sure you get to double that if you're pumping milk for additional babies:).
And I've found it funny that sometimes the nights I dread most with daddy gone end up being some of the most fun and carefree nights---not because daddy is gone, but because i relax and enjoy the time and celebrate it a little more. again, not because daddy is gone, but in spite of daddy being gone. because, afterall, we do love the daddies. but when they have to be gone, it is nice to know that we can still have an evening of perfection with our little offspring.
here's prayers the boys had fun and get home safely. glad you had a good night. you deserve it. much love, and shalom.
So glad you guys had such a wonderful time together :) And, um...can I have a cookie?? ;)
Funny, our Friday evening was much the same....well, minus the park, and the McD's, and the fingernail polish...we did do movie, popcorn and cookies though : ) Sounds like you enjoyed your time more than I did. Good for you for having such a memorable evening with your little ones! I could have relaxed more than I did. Evenings don't usually bring out the best in me!
Good for YOU Courtney! Nights like that can be totally dependent on what OUR attitude is! What a special night for you and the kids! (and I can't believe how big your kids are on their bikes!!)
