i know this when it's me i'm talking about.
when pat walks through the door and gives me one of those REAL hugs, a little goes a long way.
but sometimes i forget this with my kids.
i think i have to do BIG and a LOT to get to them.
but i don't.
i just had a "little goes a long way" time with rebekah.
after i put the other 3 down for naps, i told her to meet me downstairs.
(normally, she would go to her room for "quiet time")
we gave her a little keyboard for Christmas, with a lesson book to go with it.
and i'm going to do some "lessons" with her.
she has been saying that she wants to play the piano.
well, we don't OWN a piano.
and before we even discuss that topic, we're going to see if she really enjoys the whole practicing thing at all.
so, back to our time.
we had our first piano lesson.
it was so fun.
(i LOVE playing the piano. but since we don't own one, i never get to play. so this is very fun for me too!)
she loved it.
i could almost see her heart swelling.
then i took her to her bed and read some of "Anne of Green Gables" to her.
i got it at the library to be "our" book for during her break from school.
and as i prayed for her and left her room to let her (and me) have a bit of quiet time, i looked back.
the look and smile she gave me reminded me that "a little goes a long way."

You are so right. Thanks for the reminder.
nice work. sometimes it's hard to grab those few extra minutes when you want them to yourself, right? so nice work fab-mom. how very selfless of you and what a special time!
(can i come over later for piano lessons? i keep hoping to find a piano on the side of the road next!)
ok, that made me cry.
