i was reading about Hezekiah this morning in 1 Kings (which will seem VERY random, unless you are also doing "The Jesse Tree")
*he was a king of Judah...a LOOONNGG time ago (like 700 BC)
*he was a good king (there weren't very many good ones.)
*he was 25 years old when he became king! wow!
*"He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord..." (he got rid of all the idols, etc that the previous kings had established) "Hezekiah trusted the Lord...There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah...He held fast to the Lord and did not cease to follow him; he kept the commands the Lord had given Moses (the 10 Commandments). And the Lord was with him; he has successful in whatever he undertook." 1 Kings 18:3-7
i love that bold sentence.
that is not an easy thing to do - HOLD FAST to the Lord and DON'T cease to follow Him.
i cease to follow Him every day, in little things (and sometimes big things).
i choose to follow my selfish desires, my pride, my impatience.
Hezekiah had his faults, just like we all do.
but there's a lot to learn from a king that lived a really long time ago.
HOLD FAST to the Lord today and follow Him!

Its embarrasing how often I cease to follow Him.
Thanks for the reminder.
Wise words...
Perhaps i should read that to Owen. He is fasinated with King Herod. Not such a good guy. "the bad guys are more fun" Owen's words not mine.
