he is so good to me

this is the very first picture i took with my NEW camera!!!!
it's not a great picture.
but i just had to document it.

i've been saving for the Canon Rebel since last summer.
i've had an envelope in the desk drawer and i've put $5 here, $10 there.
sold random stuff on craig's list.
sold some stuff i painted.
i even sold the gold from my engagement ring and put that money in there
(remember, i got the diamond reset in platinum?)
any money that i made, i put in there.
(don't worry, none of the water4christmas shirt money went in there ;-))

it was a slow process...but i was determined to do it and i really wanted the camera but there was NO way we could justify just buying it. i mean, i have a perfectly fine point and shoot camera.

i was still NO WHERE CLOSE to buying it.

and then i opened it on Christmas night.
from my husband.
who said, "i loved being able to give that to you."
and he meant that with all his heart.
he knew how badly i wanted it.
and, i was in shock.
i seriously don't ever remember opening a present that i didn't know how to respond.
i think i screamed. i'm sure i smiled. and i know i kissed him and hugged him.
it was WAY more money than we spend on each other.
but, more than that, it showed me how much he knows me and wants to give me the desires of my heart....just a little picture of the way our Heavenly Father does.

thanks, Pat.

Oh my goodness what a hard secret to keep! I was just waiting for you to blog about it! Yay! I tried to convince him to give it to you for our Christmas photo session, but for some reason he disagreed and wanted to wait for Christmas day. I am so excited for you!

I just decided on the Canon Rebel XSi for my Christmas present as well...quite a splurge! Is that the model you got? Hurry up and figure it all out so you can show me when you visit!

So happy for you! Mine was the same way... a total surprise on Valentine's Day last year. And, like you, I was shocked (way more money than I would ever think of spending on Valentine's Day!) but he knew I would love it. And I do.

I saw someone's comment about a UV filter... I agree! I have one and a friend pointed out to me awhile back that it had a bend it the edge of it and chip in it. No idea how it happened, but so glad it only happened to the UV filter!

What kind of lens did you get? My "big wish" now is for the lens that Megan (whatever) has. I want more zoom!
