sawyer woke up at 6:45 am.
i nursed him, then pat and i got up and started getting things ready - tree on, videocamera ready, etc.
we expected the kids to be up SOON!
at 8 am, we opened their door (they were all in joshua's room sleeping) and they started moving.
it was kind of funny! WE were waking THEM up!
and then the excitement began.
this is what we do first - stockings.
but you'll notice that all the "stocking stuff" doesn't fit IN the stocking.
it's just the way we do it.
they all got snow pants - i'm thinking positive (but saving the receipts...)
a new book for "school" for joshua.
the girls got these headbands (from etsy, of course!)
doesn't she look so old...she's really growing up.
the dollhouse was a HIT!
the binder was Pat's when he was a little boy!
monkey bread.
biscuits with eggs, cheese, bacon and sausage.
(at breakfast LAST year we told the kids we were going to have another baby!)
we cleaned up.
the kids played.
after a while, the kids opened their gifts.
they each get 3.
1 book or game
1 clothes
1 toy.
gifts aside, the blessings in this picture are priceless.
there were also gifts from each kid to pat and i from the "secret santa" shop at rebekah's school.
there were also gifts that the kids had made us. on their own. with little bits of paper and glue and tape. so sweet.
joshua got a remote control car for his gift (well, it had joshua's name on it. but i think the gift was for pat ;-))
joshua loves it.
we took it outside later in the day.
we talked about all the names of Jesus that we've learned about this month.
it was neat to hear the names each kid remembered.
since my family wasn't coming over for dinner, we needed another plan for dinner.
we decided to go down the street to the chinese restaurant (that we WERE going to go to on tues nite - but ended up not going since pat and joshua were at urgent care).
so, we got bundled up and walked down the street.
only to find the restaurant CLOSED!
so, another picnic on the living room floor.
pat and i had leftover barbeque that his parents gave us from christmas eve.
the kids had cheese quesadillas.
it ended up being fun and sweet.
but i won't lie - i had a hard time switching gears for a little bit.
it was a wonderful day.
with the greatest gifts in my life.

that looked like a great day! So fun, I thought we were going to do a "Christmas Story" chinese dinner too since our friends didn't come with all the pizza stuff. but we made do with other stuff as well.
They kids look so happy and love the headbands....
i am glad they were well. looks like a wonderful day together. love bailey's shirt! Owen can't wait to see the car. 11 miles are you going to do a half marathon soon??:)
Bailey's shirt is awesome!!!!
Where did you get her shirt?!
I LOVE# bailey's shirt - that is hilarious!!! I hate that your mom was sick for Christmas...yes I DO remember your christmas last year and how terribly sick everyone was. REbekah looks ridiculously old - tell her to stop growing! I just can't stand it!
