Thanksgiving book

i love hearing all your traditions/way you do things in your families.
so i'm sharing another one of ours.

my mom gave us this book years ago.
it just sat on our coffee table for the first couple Novembers.
then, one year, i decided to read it. and listen to the CD in the back cover.
wow!

it is an AMAZING book!

so, it's now our "November candle" (which, if you've been reading this blog for any amount of time, will remember that the "candle" is our family devotion time each night.)
it's not broken up into days or anything.
we just listen to the CD, follow along in the book, and stop it at an appropriate spot.

then we talk about it a little bit.
and then we each pray and we JUST pray about things we're thankful for this month.
(we've heard some VERY sweet prayers this past week!)

"Our national observance of Thanksgiving is unique. It is both distinctly Christian and exclusively American, a holiday for celebrating faith, family, and freedom." (taken from the introduction)

I just ordered this and I am sending it to Marsha's address so Zach can bring it back...but he is coming the day before Thanksgiving... so we will probably have to do it next year!

How great that is! my friend Judy blogged the other day about how so often we rush through November to get to December and all the Christmas fun. she was convicted to really FOCUS on Thanksgiving and all the many things we have to be grateful for. That's wonderful.
