dollhouses??

we are considering a dollhouse for the "group" gift this Christmas.
the kids LOVE to play "mom and dad" and are always using "Little People", "polly pockets", etc.
i think a dollhouse would be a GREAT gift for them - and i love to encourage their imaginations
(and i would love to get rid of the polly pockets - there are hardly ANY that have "appropriate" clothing...)

anyways, any recommendations??
here's my criteria:
*NO PLASTIC - i want it to be wooden - kind of classic looking - not an eye sore
*durable - i don't want it to break the next day
*it would be fun if it had different sets - so that grandparents could add to the rooms ;-)
*of course, reasonable priced would be nice. but i'd rather pay a little more for something a lot better if that's the case.

ok. give it to me.

Dollhouses are the best gifts. And they play with them for years. Great idea.
We have two plastic ones however so I cant help with the wooden version. I looked and looked for a wooden version that I liked before purchasing our first plastic one and I couldnt find one with furntiture and people that I liked. So we went plastic.
They are very durable however and I plan to keep these for my grandkids to play with someday when they come to grandma's house!

Have you checked out Costco? They always have a great wooden one around the holidays. We are thinking about getting the same thing for our kids. Remi

Just saw one in Costco today that was wooden looked pretty durable and was fairly big. I'm sorry I didn't check the price we have two plastic dollhouses already and we don't need to even look at another.

Check out HearthSong.com for a GREAT selection. We have this one, going on 2 years and it has held up well to everyone but the dog but that's another story! :)

Just got a catalog today in the mail with a dollhouse in in and thought of you...It is wooden and seems like it would be pretty sturdy. There is also a lot of furniture that goes along with it...
