ok. cool story. stick with me here, ok?
my parents met the Lorenzens YEARS ago in California. before they had kids.
fast forward a few years, and both couples now live in Colorado and both have kids. we got together often. they took turns having "nights out" as couples and the other couple would watch all the kids. when we stayed at their house, Mr. Lorenzen would tell us bedtime stories that he made up. they were infamous (although i don't remember them, which makes me very sad). and they are a big part of this story, so keep sticking with me. then we moved from Colorado. i was 9 years old.
but we always exchanged Christmas cards. theirs was the first i wanted to see in the stack.
STILL to this day, my mom brings their Christmas card to my house to read when she receives it.
a couple Christmases ago, when my mom showed me their Christmas card, it had the "blogs" of all 4 kids on it! i jotted them down on a piece of paper and it got lost in one of my "stacks" (we had just sold our townhouse, were packing, celebrating Christmas, moving, etc.)
but i finally sat down and looked them up. i loved catching up on them all, but found a special connection in my heart with Jody...probably because she had 4 kids and had a cleaning schedule for her house and i just loved her heart. i don't know. i can't really explain it. but God has used HER to change ME.
i was in one of those stages where God breaks you, and puts you back together in a new way. and you come out of it a different person. reading and connecting with Jody came at the end of one of those stages. and He used HER and who she is to re-create ME.
so...last night the Lorenzen's were passing through town.
they were going to spend the nite as my parents (about 45 minutes away) and came over to MY house for a few hours!!!
it was so fun to "meet" them again - now that i'm "grown-up". i loved the chance for Pat to get to meet them.
and Mr. Lorenzen (aka. "fed" - it's his nickname on Jody's blog...long story) told MY KIDS a bedtime story before they went to bed!
now if that's not "full circle" - i don't know what is.
what a special night!

what a special time. I love that. And I love the kids sitting at the floor listening intently... so precious!
What a great story!
Love your blog.
Love Jody's blog.
Both of you have amazing parents.
Loved that story.
Last night must have been a very happy time for you.
I love it.
I gotta say that that is one thing I am always curious about - how people in the blogsphere know eachother/find eachother?
I found you through Jody.
Jody and I went to church together in the Springs in highschool.
It's so cool to hear your connection to her and to think about my connection with you, etc...
I love it and I'm jealous of your night!!!
OK, that made me a little teary...
And it appears as though your children sit much more still than my children do for Fed's stories. I'm sure he appreciated that.
yea, he mentioned that your boys are getting older and it's harder to keep their attention. my kids absolutely LOVED it!
Wasn't that such a FANTASTIC time!!!!! I can't tell you what that did for me....watching you interact with Jay and Laurie, as an adult. Like you said...full circle. Just wonderful. I'm so glad it worked out to get together. Special friends.
what a special time you all had went back so many years... so fun
How SPECIAL!! it's amazing how God weaves people in and out of our lives - and then to see it come full circle like that...it's amazing! It makes me think of what my kids will think 20 years from now when friends come in town or we visit....like am I going to be sitting in Rebekah's house one day playing games with her children? Or playing cars with one of Joshua's boys? Or reading books with Bailey's kids? Amazing.
