like most churches, our church does a number of different retreats each year - "women's retreat", "men's retreat", "youth group retreats" - they are all fun and wonderful.
well, a couple at our church has this passion for "young families" - and put together this retreat for young families.
it was amazing.
we were together as a family for the whole weekend (we all slept together in the same room!!!) there was 1 hour where we were in a "couple's session" and the kids were watched by babysitters (that were there the whole weekend to use during naptimes, etc!) it was so low-key, the food was great, i wasn't stressed for 1 minute. how is that even possible?? it's because the couple that planned it has 5 (going on 6) kids and they GET what it's like and organized the logistics around "young families".
friday night we ate pizza and played games...
saturday had a couple of "structured hours", and other than that we played, napped, and ate!
saturday night we had movie/popcorn night!
sunday morning we had "family worship time" - the kids had a blast dancing to the songs!
and the weather and views where we were, were GORGEOUS!!!
it was a refreshing weekend together as a family, we met new friends, got to talk to old friends. and we're not even tired!

What a WONDERFUL idea!!! It sounds as though they really worked it out well to work for all of you! I hope it was wonderfully refreshing for you!
Wow you are brave, sounds like an awesome time.
How fun! And now the conversation I was having with Rebekah and Joshua makes more sense. On our walk the other morning, Rebekah was trying to tell me about your weekend plans and the retreat. Later on Joshua said to me, "You should give Romey (the dog) a Retreat because he was good today." haha! So cute!!!
