last night pat and joshua went on their "date" - to a minor league baseball game. i didn't get a picture of them! what was i thinking?!?
but i will always remember joshua's face when they walked in at 11 pm (!)
his smile was priceless.
they ate hot dogs.
he got to run around the bases at the end of the game.
and they saw fireworks.
doesn't get much better than that, huh?
and today. it was busy, but good.
after bailey's nap, we went on our date.
i couldn't decide which picture i liked best - her faces are all so cute...
please...
where do you take a 3 year old that doesn't sit still, LOVES to read books, doesn't like TV/movies, and never stops talking?
to a bookstore!
so, in my head, the idea was to go to the bookstore. we would sit down in the children's section and she would bring me book after book to read to her and i would be able to give her my undivided attention and not have to say, "just one more book and i have to go ______".
as we're driving up she says, "mom, is this my special?" she uses the word "special" as a noun, not an adjective. so cute. her special.
well, this is how it really went:
arrive in the children's section of the bookstore and there is a Thomas the train table there in the middle (why? why does that need to be in a bookstore??)
of course she wants to play with it. sure, fine, go ahead..for a few minutes. then we need to continue with what we're REALLY here for (which, by the way is to have special time with BAILEY...NOT to do what I think we should do...)
i say, "let's read a book". she goes along with me. we read a couple books that she picks out.
oh, the hand...
then she says, "can i go play with the choo-choos again?"
sure. let's go play with the choo-choos. and we did. just the 2 of us. just "you and me." and it was fun...and special.
and we ended the date with a slurpee (because that's how we end dates with mom around here).

That is so fun. I didn't know there was baseball near there to go see a game. Wow.
I know all about the Thomas set up, Eli asked me the summer I was home giving birth to Jasper, "can we go to the bookstore to play trains." Doesn't matter that there are trains at my mom's house! Oh well.
She looks so big in that picture of her getting a book, wow. And I LOVE the picture of the two of you, she is beautiful!!!
Oh and I did cut my hair. I am always trying to get the "cut" I want and it is so hard to explain in HUngarian, so I keep going to different places trying to explain. I really think it is hopeless. It looks shorter than it appeared, because the gal cut it in one big layer then left the bottom... kind of odd. Oh well....
It's SO wonderful to be able to do JUST what they want to do...even when it's not EXACTLy how you think it would have gone. What a special girl she is. Oh that hand is right!!!
