first of all, i love to paint. really, i just love to CREATE and paint is an easy, cheap way to create things.
this is my favorite part of our house. MY art area. i'm spoiled, i know. this is ALL MINE. the kids aren't allowed to TOUCH anything on/near it. and i can just leave all my half-finished projects laying out for weeks (months) on end. til i get back to them. which sometimes is weeks later.
i have been working on a BIG project for months. whenever i get a few minutes, i run downstairs and work on it. i've spent MANY hours at this table. the couple weeks before Sawyer was born, i would wake up at 2 or 3 am with contractions, and go downstairs and work on this for an hour or two. it's a good thing i haven't kept track of the hours spent on this...it's A LOT.
i finished it tonight!!!
pat and joshua are on their date. the girls and i (and Sawyer) went grocery shopping, got them in bed, and headed downstairs.
armed with a HUGE diet Coke from Sam's, some Tootsie Rolls from the bag of candy for the girls' pinata that i opened (stupid, stupid me...the "no junk" diet isn't going so well), and a new CD my sister made me...i headed down to FINISH!!!
THIS is the first 10 years of our marriage - on a canvas - in little squares representing many different things (around 64, i think)
and it now resides on our mantle. i absolutely love it. it's US. our life.
and if you come to my house you'd better "ooohhhh" and "ahhhh!" over it...just humor me.

I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it... I seriously think it is super cool and congrats on FINISHING IT. That sometimes is the hardest part! It looks great! I cannot wait to see it whenever we are home next... probably a year from now... so I will ahh and ohhh then. But for now "AHHHH OOOOOHHHH" :)

OH! MY! GOODNESS! That is The Coolest project Ever! Wow! You had my curiosity piqued a few weeks ago when you told us you were working on "something" when you had contractions. I had no idea! I should have had some idea b/c you are ridiculously creative and talented...but WOW! I LOVE this. Not only is it wonderfully personalized just for your family, but it is absolutely gorgeous! WOW WOW WOW! Awesome job!

it is absolutely INCREDIBLE! What a TREASURE! Does Pat know how lucky he is to have such an amazing, creative wife? How in the world did you get the idea for it? Unbelievable. So how much would you charge to paint me one? :) Incredible really. I saw part of it when we came to visit, but I didn't want to saw anything until you had made the final reveal. It's gorgeous Courtney! I LOVE it!
