lemonAID stand

we had a lemonade stand this afternoon. we are using the money we made to buy mosquito nets for children in Liberia that need them to sleep under. i got the idea from this website called KidsLake which stands for Kids Loving as Kingdom Examples. it's a great site - gives you ideas for helping your kids think outside of "their world."

in Liberia, 58 children die every day from Malaria - which they get from mosquito bites. each net covers 4 children while they are sleeping.

we made enough for 4 nets!

(joshua really was into it...but made this silly face for the picture)

bailey and rebekah explaining what we were doing "in their words"

i pray it was one more little seed in my children's hearts to love and care for others...even when we don't know them and can't see them.

what an awesome idea and i can't wait to check out the website. we raised money for this as a church and the kids (mine included and did extra "jobs" to earn money for the nets) got so into it!! it was so neat because i think that it is something tangible that they can see and definately relate to mosquito bites (not the malaria part though). they had a mosquito net set up at our church for awhile so that everyone could see what we were buying. you have such creative ideas and i love seeing what you do daily with your kiddos. thanks for sharing!
