10 amazing years

i posted our wedding picture last year - this one if from sometime during our first year of marriage.

today, i have been married to this man for 10 years.

we got married when we were 21 years old, between our jr and sr years of college. everyone thought we were crazy. maybe we were, but it's been the most wonderful 10 years. i've never wished we had waited til we were older. i've never regretted getting married "so young."

i've been pondering the fact that we've been married for 10 years for the last few weeks. (that's what i do, PONDER. it means pat never knows what's going to come out of my mouth.) a couple weeks ago, as we were driving to church, i looked over at Pat and said, "I think we just lived the best 10 years of our life."

he looked at me like, "uh...what is that supposed to mean? it's going to be bad from here on out?"

what i meant was, i think we just lived the most "simple" 10 years of our life. living just the 2 of us. living in 1 bedroom apartments for 1/2 of those 10 years. having babies. growing up. having little kids.

i can see a glimpse into the future and can just tell that, as our kids get older, things are going to get more complicated. our heart's prayers for them are deeper. and we, hopefully, are deepening our relationship with God - which should mean we'll be asked to do and give more for Him. not easy. not simple.

but i'm ready. i'm ready to enter these next 10 years with this man by my side. he loves me so perfectly. he knows what i need when i need it. he makes me stronger. he is so patient. he is the hardest worker. he is a man of integrity. he allows me to be ME. he is THE most amazing father. you really don't know what kind of dad your husband is going to be when you marry him and Pat has surpassed anything i could have hoped for for my children.

i'm so thankful for the love God has blessed us with. i can't wait for his hug when he walks through the door at the end of each day. he still makes my heart skip a beat when i see him.

happy anniversary, pat! (this IS your card :-)) i love you.

I was wondering when this post was going to come - if it was going to be today, or maybe later this weekend. I know you've been pondering! :) We pondered quite a bit on our trip over the last 10 of our years. Everyone thought we were nuts too - and maybe we were, but we wouldn't have changed one thing about it. How perfectly wonderful they have been. May the next 10 years be even better! Can't wait to celebrate 20 years with you guys! :)
