I LOVE THIS!!! I watched the same clip a couple of days ago from CNN and have been thinking about it endlessly. WE HAVE SO MUCH!!! God truly has blessed America. I do pray that He continues to do so, so that we can continue to give, help, serve, and minister to bless others who need it so much more than we do.
I couldn't agree more. One of the problems with America today is our self-absorption. We have so much, even those of us who are skimping by. I think often of the kids culling the dumps in Brazil for food while my kids open a refrigerator full of good, nutritious food. How can we ask for more? We should be awe-struck by how much we have.
Maybe I should clarify, when I say "I love this" I mean I love us thinking about how much God already has blessed us, rather than asking for any more blessings for ourselves. I don't mean I love those parents having to do what they did....just to be clear, in case it wasn't :-)
First let me say that I feel more than blessed to live in America. It is an amazing place to be. We have more than we would ever need. We have more than we even know. However... Just last weekend I was talking with family about as each generation comes along, respect becomes less and less of a thing to do. Many do not respect people in authority, whether that is parents, teachers or the President. Through the discussion, we realized that a lot has to do with things changing. For many, many years the US was "Christian". We did not have to worry about what was on TV or radio. Now, even children shows or movies contain not so great messages and images. The radio is the same way. I am not a pessimistic person but it seems like we are walking further away from God. For lots of people in America and around the world, religion and morals are relative. What might work for you, might not work for them. God is being taken out of more and more things (school, media, etc.) Will God bless America if we turn our back on him? I will get off my soapbox for now. Thanks for the deep thinking for the day. I am off to do some mindless magazine reading. Carrie
I posted earlier before I got the link to work (on dial-up in the country). We are above and beyond blessed. It is hard to even think that so many people in the world are suffering in countless ways; ways that we could not understand. We in America have too much and don't even realize it. It hurts to watch those clips.
