our newest project

so, we needed something on the windows in our dining room. i'm not a huge "window treatment" person - i'd prefer the windows to just be bare and let as much light in as possible. but, when you sat to eat breakfast and lunch, the sun was right in your eyes - from the bay window in our dining room. something needed to be done. we would all move our chairs to one side of the table so the window was at our backs. silly.
so...first i went to a "real" store and got them to price a window treatment for me. $700...EACH! and there are 4 windows. that certainly wasn't going to work.
long story short. we ordered roller shades for the bay window and my dad made us cornices out of wood. so kind of him. they turned out exactly how i wanted. pat spent forever (being very patient, i might add) getting them hung up "just right". and i spent a lot of hours stapling the batting and fabric on. (i LOVE staple guns!)
all in all, turned out great. i love it. thanks dad!
this was the paper on the wall - the "pattern" for my dad to follow.

the wood ready for me to cover! isn't my dad the best??
the finished cornices!
because of my dad and pat's very skillful measurements, these are 3 different cornices that all line up perfectly! amazing!
a close up...
