joshua

i love this little boy. i've been "studying" him the last few days. rebekah and bailey are so "right there in your face" - you can't miss who they are. joshua, on the other hand, is so quiet and i'm never quite sure what's going on with him. so, i've been studying him. i don't want to forget who he is today...4 years old. so, i'm getting it in writing.

-when he's eating, he often will stop after eating a while and say, "i'm done. i'm full." even if he's eating a bowl of ice cream! i wish i had that self-control!
-we'll be walking into a store or something and i'll look back and he's just standing there. i realize he's counting something - the lines on the road, the cars parked in front of him. he's counting EVERYTHING these days
-he asks TONS of questions - some great (like "what is hell?") and most ridiculous (like "are we eating lunch today?") duh - don't we every day of your life??
-he really only likes to eat meat. no rice. no noodles. no bread.
-he loves routine and doesn't let me forget something that i've "missed"...
-he's never content where we are - always asking what's next
-he thinks his daddy is the best thing in the world - and wants to do everything like him (wear a belt, wear brown shoes, when he grows up he wants to "do papers and type and stay at work til it's dark" like his daddy)
-he is a "quiet" sufferer when something hurts - unlike his sisters
-when he's getting in his bed for his nap, he HAD to take his socks off. why? "so my feet will be cold." silly boy!
-when he goes #2 - he takes his shoes, socks, pants and underwear off. it's fine at home. not at chick-fil-a.
-multiple times a day he says, "mom, i love you" totally out of the blue.
-he loves to help me - cut fruit, put decorations away. he loves to be "my big helper"
-he asks to go to bed when he's tired

i'm sure there's so much more. that's what i can think of off the top of my head. i love this little boy (did i already say that??)

Not to worry, we all love this little guy too! The hell question is a pretty good one...way to stay on your toes with your answers!

Kyle does the exact same thing when he goes number 2...it is frustrating and funny at the same time. Not sure why he has to take his socks off, though. He just says that's the way he has to do it. Well ok then.

He is SO funny. He has so many of the same characteristics as Josiah does- I think because he's the first boy, has similar first-born qualities. Such a HUGE heart...God has MIGHTY plans for you, Joshua Alden!
