i'm really not "into" kid's birthday parties. thankfully, we have our extended families nearby and them coming over "counts" as a party for our kids' birthdays! it's great. we had a very special evening last night with my parents, pat's parents and pat's sister and her husband. we had tacos for dinner (joshua's other favorite meal), cake and did a pinata (going along with a "fiesta" theme - get it...tacos, pinata...) he had a blast!

this was Pat's hat when he was little!
no comments on the cake...it TASTED yummy!
the pinata - we made it ourselves because all the pinatas that you can buy you just pull these little strings to break it open. i wanted the good, old-fashioned, HIT IT! so, we made it!
joshua said today, "mom, i'm really sad that it's not my birthday anymore." so cute! it was so fun to celebrate HIM and focus on him. he so rarely requires attention and it was fun to give him a lot!

um, did he skip a year on me?? he looks so much older than he did when i saw him last - like a couple weeks ago!!! looks like you guys had some very special celebrations for him - how fun!! :) xoxo
Looks SO cute in Pat's hat....although he'd be cuter if it was a Titans hat instead of a Cowboys one...have to keep that in mind.....What a FUN fiesta! :)
That sounds precious! When we were back home this summer we went to a birthday party for a kids we met in Sunday School and I could not believe how parties have changed! That little boy went home with over 40 BIG bags of gifts (we were outside at a park, so didn't open them there) and here I am, coming from Hungary and we just got him some fun matchbox cars that Eli picked out. It felt so weird giving them this little gift bag compared to all the other gifts. But they had a pinata there and it was so hard to get to open that after about 20 minutes of the kids trying, the adults tried, then just them men, and basically they had to beat the thing to crack and it was hysterical...after it cracked the men just threw the candy at the kids. Oh and this little boy just turned 3. I like your family idea!!!
ok, I HAVE to comment on the cake. I LOVE IT. Who cares what IT looks like, look at his face...that is what makes the cake! Awesome job mom - and sweet pinata!
