back to "us"

pat and i had a great evening last night. truly magical. the last 2 weeks have been hard. we've just been surviving (and barely that!) pat's been amazing...taking care of all of us and with NO complaints (unlike me - i'm SUCH a complainer). it's always "good" to go through hard times to show us what we're truly made of, how much we truly love each other by what we do in the midst of a horrible time.

but it's so nice to be on the other side now. pat and i reconnected last night. we're back to us and it feels good. i feel like i finally took my "i'm going to survive this" wall down and opened back up to him my heart (all i'm thinking and feeling) - and he's not sure he's ready for it again ;-) maybe it was a nice break for him! we sat over a nice, candlelit meal and talked and talked. talked about serious stuff, funny stuff and just everyday stuff. it was so nice. we watched a movie and enjoyed being close (he's treated me like i've had the plague so he wouldn't get it - it worked, but i've sure missed him!)

this was dessert...chocolate chip scones, cream and rasberries. yum!

"our song" - the card on the table comes (of course) from a country song. there's this song out by Taylor Swift (LOVE her!) called "Our Song". it's about the things in a day that make up their song - very cute. i wrote down "our song" - what our life sounds like. and we will miss this song one day - but we will have a new song...

"Our Song" (the Cassada version)
*our song is little voices asking for one more kiss, or one more drink...
*our song is the creaking of the front door as we sneak out for our early morning runs
*our song is Joshua saying, "Wanna car race?"
*our song is the pitter patter of little feet
*our song is Bailey saying, "I need help!"
*our song is the sound of my cell phone ringing to tell me you're on your way home
*our song is Rebekah saying, "I made this for you!"
*our song is your garage door going up and the kids dropping whatever they're doing to run to see you
*our song is the precious quiet at 8 when they're in bed and we get to talk and pray
