this is so cool, i have to document it for myself.
during our devotion time at night, pat is walking through what "gospel" means - (good news, that we have a living, reigning God, etc.) it's been great (as it always is when he teaches anything) and the kids have had some great questions and answers during our time each night and randomly during the day.
well, today, when Rebekah got home from school, the first thing she said was (with much concern in her voice), "Mom, ______ at school said that Jesus ISN'T still alive. But He is. He's not still on Earth, but He rose from the dead and He's in heaven. Why did they say He isn't alive?" I proceeded to first say maybe they misunderstood (giving this child the benefit of the doubt) and since most people know that Jesus died, rose and isn't on Earth anymore that that was what they meant. but i also told her that not everyone will always believe everything that we believe. but that her dad and i try with all we have to teach our children the TRUTH...that we have learned from the Word of God and from His Spirit - not just stuff we make up or things that we think sound good. she really looked at me with one of those looks like, "What?"
part of me hates that she's growing up and learning "hard truths" - like that everyone doesn't believe the same thing.
but part of me is excited, excited for her to "get" it and take these truths for her own. my heart has been praying earnestly ever since, that as she processes our conversation, she desires to share the TRUTH with others.

I am with you Courtney and it is great she is asking so many questions and I will be praying that she "gets it" too. What a blessing she has in you and Pat. It is so hard giving these little ones over, isn't it? And fully trusting God, which I do, but humanly I still want my hand in it. *sigh*
So awesome!
How GREAT is that? It is so hard explaining to them about how everyone doesn't always believe the same things or make the right choices - but how wonderful that at 6, she is processing all this!
