it's been a great day...really, a great weekend so far. these weekends leading up to Christmas are so fun. spend the evening writing Christmas cards by the beautiful tree last night. ran a nice 7 miles this morning. took the kids up to the school for the "secret shop" where they got to buy gifts for us (so fun!), we're doing gingerbread houses when they get up from naps and pat and i are going to our neighborhood Christmas party tonight. tomorrow is more of the same! sweet, sweet days. oh, and the day started out drizzly and overcast, but now the sun is out and shining bright.
but, there is a cloud hanging over my heart. my cousin, heather (she's the beautiful one in the left in the picture), is having brain surgery on Monday morning. a couple months ago she had a seizure...did some tests...and then a few weeks later she had another seizure. this time they found a tumor. it's been a week of unknowns, lots of tests for her, lots of questions. but the tumor needs to come out. and during the surgery they'll be able to figure out what it is. it's terrifying. it's scary. BUT, i cling to the fact that God isn't surprised by this and i trust Him. this is one of those times where that's about all i have to say. I TRUST HIM. and i really mean it. why? because what other choice do i have? He's proven Himself faithful time and time again. this is where i choose to follow His strong Word and promises.
so, her surgery is on Monday morning at 8:30 am. please pray for her, for the doctors, for her family. we love you so very much, heather.
