a night away...as a family

we decided when we woke up yesterday morning that we were going to go away for a night. rebekah doesn't have school today and tomorrow for teacher workdays. we'd been talking about it - but with Pat's shoulder, we weren't sure how he'd feel.
he decided he felt ok to do it, so we went to church, packed the car and headed out. we went to a state park in maryland - 2 hours away. i had seen it on my trip to kentucky - and wrote the name down, did some research and thought it would be perfect. it was.
check out the view! this is what our room looked at-this lake with those mountains in the background. seriously. THIS place was the definition of "breathtaking" - the pictures don't do it justice at all. it literally took your breath away.
we got there around 3 yesterday, went on a little hike (they have lots of trails) after we checked in, ate dinner at the restaurant, swam in the pool and then the kids went to bed. the Cowboys/Eagles game was on last night - so we did watch it - but we talked for awhile first, which was very loving of Pat.

the kids all slept in a room together (bailey was in her packnplay)

we woke up "slowly" this morning, went down and ate breakfast, packed up and checked out and then went for a nice, long hike before we headed home.

i love the extra hours with her!

that's rebekah and joshua way out in the field

it was a wonderful time together "reconnecting" as a family. just nice to move a little slower and not be in a rush. we weren't even gone 24 hours, but it felt like days! we are very thankful to be able to have done it.

Oh how great for you guys to get away!!! Great for the kids, great for you & Pat, great for you with Rebekah - how perfect. I'm SO glad that you were able to make time and just do it! Just take advantage of a no school day. It looked absolutely GORGEOUS - what great pictures. I LOVE the one of you with Rebekah and the one of you and Bailey being silly. It sounds like it was a great escape for you and Pat. Good for you! I love you!
