happy thanksgiving

what an awesome 2 days we've had! yesterday my mom and hannah came over for the morning and we did some "preparations" for today. it was fun to work together. then, my mom left and hannah stayed! spent the day with us and stayed the night. it was so fun. we sat in the sunroom and talked while the kids took naps. we walked to the pizza place and ate dinner and sat around the table while the kids ran around the fountain for awhile. it was like 60 degrees outside! it felt like a dream.
this morning, woke up, got the turkey in the oven and hannah, my dad and i went off to run the 10k Turkey Trot
this is Hannah before our run - reading to my kids.
at about the halfway point. i'd be lying if i said i felt awesome. it was a hard run - not sure why. but, it was fun to do - especially with my sister and dad! AND it was 70 degrees!

me waving to another friend - it was fun to see others i knew!

the table...all set and ready to go!

explaining how to grill a turkey (we did one in the oven and one on the grill)
the grilled turkey - doesn't it look great?
the "kid's table" - joshua praying for their meal. it's wierd. my cousins and i used to sit at the kids' table - now OUR kids are there.
yummy food!

blast from the past. we had the pleasure of having 2 extra guests this year. one was Greg - a guy from our Shepherd group (sorry, no picture of him) and the other was Tammy. her family lived in the same neighborhood as us in Colorado Springs. she just moved to the area and joined us! so fun to catch up!
so, this picture is:
my sister, Hannah, Pat, me, Tammy, Phill (my brother) and his wife, Christy and Steve (my brother)
Christy reading to Bailey
Richard reading to Bailey
some of the "crew"...some left too early to get in the picture
Steve reading to Bailey - (picking up on a pattern??)

it was a great day. so much fun to have it at our house. great to spend time with family and friends. we certainly missed my aunt Kim, Heather, Brandon and Jackie this year. it dropped 30 degrees from the beginning of the day til the end. when we were getting ready, the windows were open and it felt warm! now it's very chilly.
everything is cleaned up. even swept and mopped the floor. pat's asleep on the couch. joshua is having a "sleepover" on the floor in rebekah's room. so cute how they love to be together.
looking forward to the long weekend...i'm hoping the kids will sleep in a bit tomorrow morning. we'll see.
we have so very much to be thankful for.
i'm headed to bed. i think i'll sleep good!

It looks like you had a great time Courtney! And I like your Thanksgiving sign. I am impressed with all the running you do. I have been getting up for aerobics in the morning, but I hate running... Zach loves it though... you look great :)

Isn't it fun to get out your real dishes and sit all together at the table!!! And congrats on the race! Kelli & Kristen said there's was hard too because it was so hot!!!!
