small town america

ever since we started having kids, i've had this "dream" in my mind of living in small town america - you know, everyone knows each other, you wave when you pass in the street, you walk next door and borrow an egg, you feel more safe than unsafe.

we even went through the whole FBI process - with that end goal in mind - and God intended us to stay here in Northern Virginia (NOT small town America, right??)

well, all this to say, that i think we live in the ONLY neighborhood in Northern Virginia that IS small town America...everyone knows each other, they wave when you pass, you borrow food, you feel safe, AND yesterday afternoon a few of the elementary school boys were meeting up on the corner in front of my house to walk up to the elementary school at the top of the hill for football practice! does it get any more small town than that?? i LOVE it!

I have to say that every time Andy starts talking about moving I cringe! I love our neighborhood because of this reason. I feel like we know everyone and that it is a little like small town america but with big town amenities.
