check out those beautiful teeth...

that's the last you'll see of them

so, we were ending a beautiful summer day. it was a day filled with grocery shopping and laundry (since we just got back last night) but we went outside to play for a little while. we were headed home from our neighbor's house around the corner to make dinner. joshua was riding his bike with no training wheels (which he just learned 2 weeks ago). he fell off and hit the sidewalk with his 2 top front teeth. blood gushing everywhere. at first i just thought he had bit his lip but once i got him home and cleaned up i realized we were dealing with something a little more major. i jumped in the car and headed to the emergency room...but realized they probably couldn't do anything. i turned around and went back home (all 3 kids in the back...joshua being SO brave). i called the dentist and they met us at their office. pat met me there (i had called him and told him what happened.) the dentist said that we had no other option but to "extract" them...they would just get infected. so, i took rebekah and bailey and headed home and pat stayed to hold joshua during the procedure (the dentist warned me it would be VERY painful and i couldn't take it.) pat said joshua did amazing...he is a brave, tough little guy. he was in pretty good spirits last night. i'm sure it'll be painful today (we have a prescription pain medication to give him.) i'll post a picture in a couple days. at the moment he looks like he's been in a boxing match. so, enjoy the above picture.

hopefully today will be a little less eventful...

Oh Courtney, I'm so sorry! What an event! I'm so glad that Pat was able to meet you at the dentist office and that Joshua was such a brave big boy! Geez...when will his adult teeth come in? Can he have replacements for a few years? I'm glad he's okay other than that!

See you this weekend!

Courtney-
I am so sorry for you guys and for Joshua! We are praying for a speedy "recovery." Kids bounce back so fast but I am sure that he is in a lot of pain right now and that eating is hard for him. I know that this has been a loooong day for you! Hang in there!
